the final year of degree level of study at Carey involves doing the 'capstone of the course' - aka Intergrative Seminar. I was supposed to do this paper last year as it was my last 'full year' but chose to put it off till now.

What is involved is a 6000 word research assigmnet on a contemporary song of ones choice. This is then broken down into three areas - the 'from' strand (involving an exegisis of the song down), the 'through' strand (involving the biblical and theological implication of the song) and the 'to' strand - the missiological implications of the song.

I have chosen to take on kayne west and his song 'hear em say'. you may have heard it regularly on the radio waves. It's a pretty catchy tune, with some significant lyrics looking at the lower class peoples of the US, and the search for hope, but not knowing what direction to go. It has plenty of parallels to New Zealand society, so I'm certain I will find this paper extremely interesting.

On a completely different note, today was the cutoff day for the intermediates e-camp, being held at finlay park on the shores of lake karapiro. Have four leaders and 23 11-13 year olds going down. hard out. 10 up on last year, so I'm extremely excited. Can't wait! Now for the 2 week rush of organising transport, tents and myself.

The question of what to do in 10 weeks time once full time study is over is starting to hang over my shoulders. I know it shouldn't, but its starting to creep up on me. There's plenty of time, I guess its more of my own certainty of knowing what I'm going to do with myself once the study is done.
